Manic Monday #2

Here is my list from last week.  I've crossed off what I've accomplishes this past week.
1. Start my exercise routine!
2. Work on my Lonestar Wall hanging
3. Work on Table Runner
4. Start my Christmas Sampler Quiltalong
5. Work on a scarf
6. Finish school with the kids; write up the next block of assignments
7. Bible study worksheet and book (two different classes)

So, this week I plan on:
1. Getting the next set of school lessons written out
2. Continue my exercise routine
3. Finish Stocking for Stockings for Christmas Drive
4. Finish pouches for a business opportunity
5. Catch up my Christmas Sampler Quiltalong, my computer and printer weren't talking to each other.
6. Lonestar quilt
7. Table runner
8. Get my housecleaning back in check, it's run away from me!

What are you all up to this week?

TNT Thursday #2

This week I don't have anything physical in nature that I've done that is new.  I did however, create a button for my blog and my etsy shop this week.  Those were both quite the undertaking for someone who is not tech savvy.

So, to experience my new projects, click on my new buttons located on the side bar.
I won't leave ya without a picture, this is the first block of the 12 Days of Christmas Sampler QAL.
The next block is Santa's suit.  I hope to get to that today or tomorrow.

WIP Wednesday

Well, this week I didn't actually finish any new quilting projects.  I did start a new one and am still working on others.  I've been busy working on getting the hives meted out for the 3x6 bee to start on the first.  I did, however, finish a scarf for the Special Olympics 2012 Scarf Campaign.  Yay!

I used the official colors for this year and doubled up the strands, giving it that unique look.
I have decided to try and take the 'process pledge', so here is my process of the 1st block in the 12 Days of Christmas Sampler QAL:

I also received my mug rug this week all the way from Norway!  My kids (and I) have really enjoyed the Norwegian chocolate that she sent along:
I've decided to use it as decor because it's just too pretty to stain with my coffee!
The other thing that has kept me rather busy this past week was linking my blog/etsy/facebook all together.  I'm not too tech savvy, so it is still an ongoing process as I work out the kinks, but so far, I'm liking what I've gotten accomplished.  I've created a label, which was fun, and now I hope to spread my name out there with my new label.  I also created a new button for the blog as well as my etsy shop, that was interesting to say the least!  But, I.DID.IT!
Well, how'd ya'll do this week?
Completed: 1 scarf
ongoing: about 6-7
New: 1

Manic Monday's

Why not try and post my own version of a routine blog post?  I think this will be a great way for me to write down my list of to-dos for the week.
1. Start my exercise routine!
2. Work on my Lonestar Wall hanging
3. Work on Table Runner
4. Start my Christmas Sampler Quiltalong
5. Work on a scarf
6. Finish school with the kids; write up the next block of assignments
7. Bible study worksheet and book (two different classes)

Well, other than the normal daily stuff, I think this is a feasible list.  If you'd like, you can join me.  I am still learning how to add links and all that, so just leave a comment on this post.  :)

One Bite at a time Recap

One Bite at a Time

This week I decided to conquer a challenge in the book that I already have in practice.  I have a menu planned out for two weeks.  The next biggest challenge for me is to actually follow through on the menu.  My family and I are much happier when I do!  So, I will try and tackle something a bit more challenging next week!  How'd you all do?  Oh, and I am linking up over at Sam's Noggin!

WIP Wednesday

Well, another Wednesday is here, and I'm actually going to post on Wednesday.  Imagine that!  Well, I must admit that I finished quite a few things this week.  Yay!  Well, here is my picture parade.

The Mug Rug I made for the Mug Rug Swap.  I'll be mailing this today!

This rug held some firsts, yo-yo's, applique, and FMQ.
I finished the top here for my "Project Me" challenge with A Quilting Book Club.  First time with applique circles!
My blocks for the October NuBees Swap:
Charms for the Charming Christmas Swap:
Pouch made for P{l}P Swap 3.  Just need to add some goodies.  First time with hexies.  I was a bit nervous.

A hexie pincushion caddy I made from a tutorial from pennyshands.blogspot.com.
Well, I think that I had a productive week!  I will be linking over at Freshly Pieced.  This also crosses some things off of my list for Winter Stitching!

One Bite At a Time Week #3

One Bite at a Time

Ugh!  That pretty much describes how it went.  I tried, okay I really didn't, to conquer my frog.  So, in an effort to at least see progress, I will follow Sam's lead and try for a more tangible goal this week and try to eat my frog another time.

MFW Recap

This week the kids learned more of the Great Flood and just how 'uncute' the true Ark really was.  How it didn't have animal heads sticking out the sides and all that, as seen below.

But instead learned how functional and huge it really was.
This week the kids also created "Edible Cells."  Now, you must realize that just because it says edible, it by no means implies healthy.
In each bowl is lemon jello with their respective parts laid out on the napkins.
Here they are assembling their cells.
Here is a closer look at their cell parts.
 DS with his finished cell.
DD, looking so pleased for the camera, with her finished cell.
Here they are tasting their creations.

All in all, a fun week.  I even had DD state that she was having fun-in SCIENCE!

WIP #7

Well, I unfortunately didn't complete anything this week and what I worked on isn't photo worthy, yet.  I don't want to spoil surprises for my P{l}P swap partner or my Mug Rug Swap partner.  I do hope that this time next week I can do a full reveal.  I am sorting through what fabric I have for my NuBee swap to get those blocks made.  I am also still working on "Project Me" slated to wrap up this weekend, which means that I need to get moving on that one!  Well, that is it for now.  I know, rather depressing in the quilting scheme of things.  I promise to have a much more exciting post next week with pictures of completed projects!

Stockings for Kids

My friend, Lyanna, over at Purple Panda Quilts is hosting a Christmas Stocking drive for foster kids in her area. She's teamed up with a few sponsors and will be having giveaways for those who participate.  I plan on making some stockings, would you also consider making some as well?  She has set up a flickr group, Stocking for Kids, for those participating to track their progress and get more information.  You can click the link below for more information or head on over to her blog.  Stockings need to be to her by December 1st.

Not So WIP Wednesday...it is Friday after all!

Well, with my DD having a birthday on Thursday and having a sleepover this past weekend, my becoming a Queen Bee with some amazing ladies for the 3x6 Mini Bee, and life in general, I've been a little lax in my posting.  So, to recap what I have accomplished this week.  NOT MUCH!  At least not in the quilting realm.  Life had a lot of stuff happening which always pushes the extra-curricular to the back burner.  I did find the block I want to use for the NuBee Swap and am looking in my stash to see if I have enough fabric to get away without purchasing anything; we'll see.  I also found a zipper for the PLP Swap, so I can finally get started on that.  I assembled all the blocks for the Across the Sea QAL, now just need to put the top together.  I realized that I don't have enough fabric for the back as described for the QAL, so I'll be using some fabric I have on hand, possibly flannel.  I didn't touch my "Project Me" project, but I have less than ten days to finish it for the challenge, so I'll need to get a move on.  Well, my dishes are screaming my name as well as my loud dryer-which just buzzed.  Oh, the irony.  And since this such a long post, I'll put up a picture of my ATSQAL progress as well as the wonderful ALFALC Swap package I received this past week full of wonderful goodies!
 "Skittles"
* The yarn in the photo, camera doesn't do it justice, was hand-dyed in her kitchen.  How awesome!*

Birthday Party

Yesterday our DD celebrated her 11th birthday.  We made her meal of choice, fettuccini alfredo and a zebra cake for dessert.  My layers in the zebra cake didn't come like I had hoped, but I learned from one who makes cakes- alot- that I needed to have let each layer settle before adding the next.  I guess I was in too much of a rush.  But, since I promised to take pictures...

Our gift this year was to go and get her ears pierced.  Sigh, she's getting too big.  Here are pictures:

We also ended the night by spending most of her clothing money she received for her birthday as well.  There are a few more items we hope to find, but that will happen on a later date.

One Bite At a Time Week #2

One Bite at a Time

Well, for week two, I'm still on task one.  It literally means to accomplish one thing at a time.  I was so gun-ho about going and 'eating my frog' but it has turned out to be rather difficult to follow through.  Now, I know I should have probably sucked it up and trudged through, but when my frog is exercising and doing it in the morning before the day gets started; having a nine month old decide that he no longer wants to sleep at night makes it really, really hard!  So, my plan going into week three is to get my upbeat music transferred onto my little shuffle and ready to go for Monday.  Pray that DS decides that sleeping at night is a welcomed and healthy endeavor.
